Catalogue
The catalogue lists every record series held by the National Archive of the Velocity Interoperability Network. A series is a body of records created or received in the course of one activity and kept together, and it is the unit by which the Archive arranges, describes and produces its holdings. Each series has a reference beginning ARC, a title, a statement of its contents, an access status and a count of the pages digitised so far.

Reading a reference. The series reference identifies the body of records; an item within it is identified by the series reference followed by the item number, for example ARC-1/3. Quote the full reference when requesting a record, and cite it, with the item title and the name of the Archive, when publishing work drawn from it.
The series in detail. The descriptions below give the scope of each series, how it grows and any conditions that apply to its use.
- ARC-1 Founding instruments
- The decisions of 6 September 2026 by which the Velocity Interoperability Network and each of its departments and services were established, with the papers laid before those who took them. The series is complete and fully digitised, and forms the basis of the exhibition Founding the Network.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 38 pages digitised
- ARC-2 Standards
- The published text of each version of the interoperability standards VIN-1 to VIN-5, together with the working drafts, the comments received on them and the record of their adoption. New versions are added to the series as they are published.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 212 pages digitised
- ARC-3 Register notices
- A copy of every notice published in the Official Register, received from the Register on the day of publication. The three notices with which the Register opened are the first items in the series; it grows with each notice published.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 3 pages digitised
- ARC-4 Infrastructure maps
- Maps and plans of the physical Network: relay sites, exchange points and data halls, with the schedules that accompany them. Oversize sheets are stored flat and imaged in sections; the digitised copies are assembled into complete sheets for readers.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 640 pages digitised
- ARC-5 Entry-point records
- Declarations made and refusals recorded at points of entry to the Network. The records contain the personal information of individual travellers and are restricted: they are open to the person concerned, or to another person with that person's written consent, and to all readers thirty years after the date of the record.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Restricted · 1,140 pages digitised
- ARC-6 Departmental press releases
- The press releases and official statements published by the departments of the Network on their .gov.vin sites, received in digital form on the day of publication. The series preserves the text as first published; later corrections are filed with the original.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 19 pages digitised
- ARC-7 Records of the Archive
- The Archive's own records: the accession register, the transfer schedules agreed with each department, condition surveys and conservation reports. The series documents what the Archive holds, when it received it and what has been done to preserve it.
- Opened 6 September 2026 · Open · 12 pages digitised
